Keep it Quiet

I just finished this for my grandparent’s Christmas gift:

I wasn’t sure I was going to get it done, but I finally just sat down and started on it, and it didn’t take too long.  Around 2 hours? The photo was taken at the Richmond Fall Festival, I had it printed on fabric and I picked [...]

Sewing

I haven’t felt like doing much lately…
I finished up these tote bag orders today, each one has a matching zip pouch.  Those things are so cute!

I’m still chugging along on the Lace Ribbon Scarf, aka the Never-Ending Scarf.  But it’s such a great pattern and I can see myself knitting another one in a different [...]

Some progress shots with the knitting:

This is my Catriona vest…I’m modifying the shoulders so it doesn’t end up looking linebacker-ish…just decreasing about 10 or 12 stitches around the armhole. Hopefully this works out the way I envision it.
I spent a couple hours yesterday spinning and plying this:

I went back down to the slower whorl [...]

One order down, one to go. This is a commissioned project for my Everyday Tote…and two smaller ones for the customer’s two little daughters. I already started the other order, which is for a diaper bag…but the fabric choice for the lining isn’t settled yet. I saw the cutest lining yesterday [...]

McCalls 5438 and Butterick 6085

McCalls 5438
Super easy pattern, I didn’t do the lining, but instead did a type of binding on all the seams. It was a b*tch to handstitch but in the end I like it. I just couldn’t bear to cover up the lovely fabric on the inside (this fabric was pre-quilted). It’s the [...]

Christmas Rail Fence Quilt

I’m really happy with how this quilt turned out. I took my time on all the cutting and sewing, to make sure I was doing a good job, I made sure everything was square and all that good stuff…more on what I learned about quilting in this post.

Also, the finished spinning wheel:

It’s impressive! [...]

Feverishly Quilting

I started my first quilt yesterday evening (talk about a wild hair). I didn’t have a plan and I was basically just winging it. I pulled out the rotary cutter, the clear ruler thingy, and starting cutting fabric. I didn’t really measure and I paid no heed to color coordination. I almost [...]

Rowan Kathy, In Progress

Well, I finished my quilted handbag and I toted my in-progress Kathy sleeve in it to work with me, so I could knit during lunch. Kathy is coming along. After such a long hiatus, my gauge changed. Bah! The back piece was knit slightly tighter than the right and left front [...]

Frustration…

This is frustration…see all my scribbles on that notepad there?

I finally picked up Kathy again after a short stint of spinning and sewing…luckily I do jot down notes and things, oh, like I don’t know, what ROW I’m on, and the CHANGES I’ve made. Sometimes my notes aren’t that great though. I had [...]

Spinning
Finished spinning the pink/white/red roving…now I have to read up on plying. Maybe I’ll try Navajo Plying and see how that goes. I’m still working on my consistency, it’s getting better.

Sewing!
We have sewing!
Here is my take on a log cabin square. It’s 12 x 12″ and I used random fabrics that I [...]
